Are you visiting London?

Visitors to London are spoilt for choice; theres so much to do, free art galleries and theatre performances every night, music everywhere, amazing cuisine from around the world, exceptional shopping and loads of history.  If you only have a short amount of time here you're going to be spoilt for choice, but make the most of your trip, save some money and plan a few excellent excursisons by having a look at these great sites.

Visit London

A great starting point this is the official London visitors website. It has all the news about whats happening, offers for theatre tickets and advice about travelling in the city as well as info about hotels etc.

View London

More unofficial than Visit London but still a good source of information, especially for nightlife.

Time Out

The original local guides, Time Out have an unrivalled insiders knowledge about the stuff that is happening RIGHT NOW. If you want to know where to find the most fashionable eats, the most ground breaking art event or the lowdown on what's happening in the city generally then this is the site to check.

Groupon / Living Social / Wowcher / Amazon Local

The deal sites have grown over the years and have become a great way to find a bargain, especially in high end dining or random events such as festivals, segway rides or trips to zoos (for example). Have a look just before you arrive to find the best deal.

Citymapper

This travel app is indispensible for getting around the sprawling transport network in London. Available for iOS and Android. Also it works in an ever growing list of global cities including Paris, Barcelona, Rome, New York and Tokyo so if you are travelling a lot this app is a must have.

Go London

Nice little blog on the about.com group of sites which has lots of good articles about the city. Points you in the direction of all kinds of little niche things, compares the best tourist attractions and generally makes for quite an intriguing read.

LONDONist

Similar to the Visit and View London sites with news and information about all the things you need to know if you're visiting the city.

TripAdvisor

The last word on travel websites, if you haven't heard of TripAdvisor then you've probably been living under an internet based rock. Full of reviews of restaurants, hotels, attractions... You name it, it's here.

Secret London

If you want to do something a bit more unusual or off the beaten track then this is the site for you. Your one stop shop for all kinds of nerdy history and facts.

Alternative London

A nice little blog which covers some of the more insider attractions about London. Worth a look if you're trying to do something a bit different.

Field Trip (Android) (iOS) and Great Little Place Apps

Excellent apps that hit you with little facts as you wander around. From obscure facts about buildings to restaurants - these are both excellent apps if you're looking to get lost and explore.

  1. Dear TFL, my name is Rachael Pires. I am sending this message because I lost a black purse on 8th May inside 263 bus. It contained my Barclays debit, my sons's picture, library cards, some cash and other cards inside the purse. I have made several efforts to contact TFL by phone, website and even asking for a message to be sent to the bus driver without success. If found, kindly please call me on
    07547776001.
    Thank you
